Nordam Manufacturing Consolidates for Better Embraer
Legacy Support
Nordam has moved the integration of Embraer Legacy shell components
to its Wichita division from its prior location at its Interiors
& Structures Division in Tulsa, OK. The move follows a recent
one in which Nordam's cabinetmaking capabilities were also moved
from Tulsa to Wichita.
The consolidation will provide a centralized location for the
manufacturing of integrated interior products that Nordam delivers
to Embraer, according to Nordam Manufacturing Division president
Ron Richman.
Nordam Wichita plans to add up to 60 employees over the next three
years to accommodate the additional workload from the Embraer
program, which includes finish-out and assembly of windows, window
shade assemblies, air ducts, heat ducts, sidewalls, valance panels
and headliners.
In other news, Nordam has expanded it repair capabilities for
metallic and non-metallic components on Canadair's Challenger
aircraft. The company recently completed tooling for a variety
of Challenger components, including torque boxes, core cowl doors,
and translating cowl doors. Nordam also provides repairs for Challenger
radomes, as well as radomes for other business jets.
Nordam's Nacelle/Thrust Reverser Systems Division has also been
active in the business aviation market. It designed and builds
both the nacelle and thrust reverser for the Falcon 2000EX, which
was certificated earlier this year. The aircraft features Nordam's
"single pivot" thrust reverser, which was certified
to prevent inadvertent deployment
In addition, the thrust reverser for Cessna's Sovereign was also
designed by Nordam. The company is conducting qualification tests
in support of the aircraft's certification, and the thrust reverser
tests should be completed by the end of October.
