Airplane operators can tap into more than 100 high-quality
channels of music and entertainment with the introduction of a
Sirius satellite radio receiver designed for aircraft use. Sirius,
with about 100,000 subscribers, competes with XM in the market
for digital satellite radio. Newly certificated by the FAA, the
AI-SSR Sirius receiver is based on a Clarion product. It has been
modified for aircraft use by California-based Avionics Innovations
and is designed to be integrated into the aircraft's intercom
system.
