Flying around in China by business jet is "painless, easy
and simple," according to Honeywell Aerospace president Bob
Johnson, who last month toured company joint ventures in several
cities in his Falcon 900. "I remember 10 years ago,"
he said, not wanting to elaborate on those bad memories of massed
paperwork and elusive permissions. "Now it is all new airports.
I could leave earlier or later than planned. It really has changed."
He noted that his crew no longer needed a Chinese navigator, and
that travel by business jet between major cities was no longer a
novelty. "They really have made it easy to fly business jets
around in China," he said, noting that the relaxation of airspace
restrictions will not only facilitate travel by Western executives,
but also spawn a Chinese business jet market, and maybe even demand
in the future for fractional ownership.
