ACJ Gains U.S. Foothold

Blue Moon Aviation, a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Part 121 charter operator, will take delivery next week of a 56-72-seat Airbus A319CJ Corporate Jet, becoming the first operator in the U.S. to offer a private Airbus for charter. The aircraft, featuring first class seats in the front, business class seats around tables in the mid-section and economy seating in the aft cabin, will be managed by Blue Moon, operated by Frontier Airlines and maintained by EADS in Lake Charles, La. The first customer is the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team.

Blue Moon President and CEO, Richard Page, says he did not consider the BBJ in the selection process. "I didn't feel (the BBJ) offered the same comfort level and 'new generation effect' that the Airbus offered," Page says, adding, "That's where I wanted to be postured."
