ExxonMobil Aviation Celebrates 100 Years in Aviation
ExxonMobil Avitat's Booth 4843 is positioned right next to the
Wright Flyer replica. And parent company ExxonMobil is proudly
celebrating 100 years in aviation, too.
The company's lineage can be traced back to the Wright brothers
and their use of Standard Oil (an Exxon brand predecessor) and
lubricants from Vacuum Oil (previously Mobil) on that momentous
day at Kitty Hawk, NC in December 1903.
ExxonMobil's first branded Avitat FBO opened in Houston, Texas,
in 1970 and since then the worldwide chain has grown to 77, with
60 in the USA, 11 in Canada, two in South America and four in
Europe.
"We are continually looking to grow our network, and Europe
is a key part of our greater plan, but we are also looking at
the rest of the world. We haven't yet investigated the potential
of former Communist bloc countries. Our policy is to evaluate
each (FBO) opportunity on an individual basis," Karen Clay,
ExxonMobil Aviation's European jet business manager, told Show
News.
The most recent addition in Europe is Executive Airport Services
Avitat Oslo, based at Norway's Gardermoen Airport. Other members
include Harrods Aviation Avitat at London-Stansted, Euralair Aviation
Service Avitat at Paris-Le Bourget, and South Air Icelandic Avitat
at Keflavik, Iceland.
"The NBAA convention is an ideal venue for our Avitat Council
meeting where senior Avitat FBO company members meet to exchange
ideas, discuss best practices and cross-fertilize ideas,"
she said. "We see the convention as a great opportunity to
meet many of our existing Avitat customers and make new ones."
"We pride ourselves on having a premier network, and each
prospective FBO has to demonstrate the very highest operating
standards in terms of aircraft service and pilot passenger care,
to gain the Avitat seal of approval," said Clay.
This year the company's exhibit again features several Avitat
FBOs. Business aviation pilots can also join up to Avitat's Premier
Spirit program and be eligible for complimentary gifts after completing
feedback questionnaires on three or more of its FBOs.
