Teledyne Controls (Booth 853) and its partner EMS Technologies
are offering a 30% discount at the NBAA show and for the rest
of the year on the HSD-128 high-speed data satcom system, offering
the components for $135,000. The hardware is part of Teledyne's
128 Kbps SmartCabin Office, introduced at last year's show and
now flying on 20 business aircraft.
SmartCabin combines existing MagnaStar digital phones, flying on roughly 4,000
aircraft, with EMS' Swift64 HSD-128 satcom unit instead of three
Aero-H boxes. Teledyne provides the wired or wireless LAN equipment
and systems engineering expertise. The latest additions to the suite
include an option for dual-channel Iridium radios. Teledyne says
it will complete three more SmartCabin installations this year and
has "a few more" in the pipe for the first part of next
year.
