Honeywell has some shining news-new LED wing-tip position lighting
for business jets, the first in Honeywell's "Astreon"
series of high-performance solid-state lighting.
"Astreon products last up to 10 times longer and provide
lower cost of ownership than the incandescent and halogen lighting
currently on aircraft," said Charles Sheets, director of
marketing and sales for Honeywell's lighting and electronics business.
While traditional light sources provide operators with about 300 hours of
operation, Honeywell says its Astreon lighting provides 3,000 hours
or five years of service, whichever comes first.
The first aircraft manufacturer to test fly and technically evaluate
Astreon position lighting will be Gulfstream Aerospace on its large-cabin,
ultra-long-range G550.
