Honeywell's latest pride and joy is its new LTS101-850 turboshaft
helicopter engine, which recently completed a series of flight
evaluations. The announcement was made here at the show on Oct.
5. During tests, the engine demonstrated more than double the
rates of climb for both twin and single-engine operations when
compared with the current platform. The 850 is designed to
provide more than a 14% takeoff power improvement at sea level
and 25% in hot day conditions by the introduction of a cooled
gas producer (GP) turbine assembly. At a press conference here
Sunday night, Russ Turner, the company's president of Engines,
Systems and Services, said that any aircraft with a 750 engine
can be retrofitted with the 850. Honeywell is at Booth 5343.
