Chesterfield, Missouri-based Thunder Aviation will team with Honeywell
to provide a two-week, $165,000 turnkey RVSM installation for Falcon
10s and Falcon 20s, using Honeywell components.
Lou Churchville, Thunder Aviation's vp of sales and marketing,
says the company is targeting the "deepest market that's under
served" by current RVSM retrofit kits-more than 300 Falcon
10s and 20s. Thunder plans to receive group certification for Falcon
20s equipped with APS 105 and SPZ 500 autopilots by mid-December,
followed by the Falcon 10 by next March. With group certification,
as opposed to individual aircraft certification, owners do not have
to complete STC flight-testing each time a kit is installed. While
Thunder Aviation will hold the STC, Flight Test Associates, Inc.
of Mojave Calif. are handling the certification and development
engineering.
