L-3 Avionics Equips Flight Options with TAWS, Announces
GPS Receiver
L-3 Avionics Systems will supply its LandMark TAWS to the Flight
Options fleet of Beechjet 400As. The fractional jet ownership
company has already begun equipping its fleet of 75 aircraft with
the L-3 Class B TAWS system. All installations are scheduled to
be complete prior to the March 29, 2005, TAWS mandate deadline.
"Not only does [this] offer Flight Options an affordable
means of compliance to the FAA TAWS mandate," said Adrienne
Stevens, L-3 Avionics president, "it also serves as the launch
program for the LandMark TAWS into Part 25 aircraft." L-3
is offering the Part 25 Beechjet/LandMark STC, completed last
month, to its dealer network as a reference for installation into
other Part 25 aircraft models.
In addition, L-3 is nearing certification of a GPS receiver that
will capitalize on the recent FAA-commissioned Wide Area Augmentation
System (WAAS) satellite array. The small, lightweight receiver
will have increased positioning accuracy due to its WAAS capabilities,
the company said.
