Arinc Positioned for 2,000 RVSM Upgrades

Arinc Direct expects to receive STCs for RVSM modifications for the Cessna 650 and Learjet 35 series aircraft early next year. Combined with the company's Cessna Citation 500-series RVSM STC obtained in August, it puts Arinc and its partners AeroMech and Shadin in competition with other RVSM vendors for more than 2,000 of the 6,400 aircraft that will require RVSM upgrades by January 2005.

The company is not advertising a price on the C650 and LJ35 kits yet; however, the cost for the Citation 500-series modification, which includes the installation, height-monitoring flights and letter of authorization, is reported by the company to be in the low $70,000s. Arinc is also offering to make the avionics and STCs available to other qualified shops.

Thomas Robeson, director of Arinc Aircraft Services, says the company has commitments from between 150 and 200 customers for the Citation 500 upgrades, which take five to seven days when combined with other maintenance and two to three days as a standalone job.
