Blackhawk Gets FAA Nod for King Air Mods

McGregor, Texas-based turboprop upgrader Blackhawk Modifications Inc. has received final FAA approval for the installation of 750 shp Pratt &Whitney Canada PT6A-135A engines on the Beech King Air C90A/B and E90. With this approval, Blackhawk's STC now covers all 90-series King Airs, as well as the Cessna Conquest I. Installation of the 135A engines can increase a King Air's cruising speed by as much as 50 kt, depending on model, and greatly improves rate of climb and single-engine performance, and hot-and-high capability. Blackhawk has already modified 18 Conquest Is, two King Air C90s and two C90As, and has a Conquest, C90A and C90B in the works. Blackhawk is at Booth 5287 here at NBAA.
