With PPG Primers, It's So Long, Sanding

PPG AerospacePRC-DeSoto, the aerospace coatings and sealants business of PPG Industries, is marketing new primers that significantly reduce time in the paint shop. In one case, the company says that Raytheon Aircraft, by switching to PPG's Desoprime HS7755BE polyurethane primer, has been able to eliminate the need to sand its primer coats to obtain a smooth finish, cutting application cycle times by half. At Bombardier, PPG's Desoprime HS CA7700 epoxy primer, which dries three times faster than PPG's first-generation primers and is simpler to apply, is now being used for the CRJ regional jets.
