While presenting its newly unified cabin interior and completion
business here at NBAA, EADS Sogerma gave a glimpse into some of
its little known VIP conversion work.
Sogerma, an Airbus sister-company owned by EADS, is perhaps best
known for its maintenance and engineering capabilities. However,
the company also designs and builds cabin equipment (largely for
airline First and Business Class seating) and has a substantial
cabin interior design team that is currently looking to the Airbus
A380 and Boeing 7E7. Sogerma has now brought these two skills
together into one unit and the company has started to talk a little
about the completion work it has undertaken for VIP and government
customers.
Alongside custom-built First Class updates for Cathay Pacific's
747 and A340 fleet, Sogerma has developed an Enhanced First Class
fit for Cathay's A330s. Drawing on this experience Sogerma has
delivered an A340 head-of-state conversion for Egypt, three ACJs
(including the one on show here at NBAA) and the A319 Executive
Jet for the Blue Moon program. Work currently in progress includes
a VIP A330 and A340-500 due for delivery to a Middle Eastern customer
in late 2004 (Show News believes these to be for Qatar), two ACJ
Prestige aircraft and a first class upgrade for a European airline's
A340-600 fleet (that Show News understands to be Virgin Atlantic).
