Orlando's SimCom Gets Bigger and Better for Business Aviation

Miami-based SimCom, the business and general aviation division of the Pan Am International Flight Academy, has added a host of new simulation capabilities for its corporate and private customers. Alongside its airliner simulators (ranging from the Boeing 747 to the Jetstream 31), the company already offers training programs for the Hawker 700/800/800XP family, the Learjet 20/30 family, the Citation I, II and V, Raytheon's King Air, Baron and Duke, Cessna twins, the Mitsubishi Mu-2, the Pilatus PC-12, Socata TBM700, the Piper Aerostar and Malibu/Mirage/Meridian series, Piper twins and even the Air Tractor.

Last year SimCom opened its new state-of-the-art training center at Orlando International Airport-a 67,000-square-foot building that currently houses three Level C full-motion simulators. Now SimCom, together with SimCom Simulation Technologies, is introducing a range of new and enhanced services to boost its training range.

These include:

  • The first of two new Mu-2M Marquise/Solitaire Level 5 simulators, on schedule for installation in December of this year;
  • A new King Air 350 full-motion simulator, with a Collins three-screen EFIS cockpit and associated FMS, with GPS navigation;
  • A new full-motion B58 Baron simulator, with Bendix-King avionics suite and KLN-90B GPS;
  • A Level C certified Hawker 800A simulator, with full six-axis motion control and a Honeywell EFIS cockpit;
  • A second PC-12 simulator, built for the very latest PC-12 Series 10 aircraft, to be installed at SimCom's Scottsdale, Ariz., facility; and
  • The prospect of further expansion of SimCom's 15-acre site in Orlando.
