EMS Gets Dassault Online

EMS Technologies' HSD-128 high-speed data terminal is starting beta trials on a Falcon 900EX demonstrator aircraft, and should be operational by the end of the year, according to EMS Satcom division senior vp and general manager Dr. Neil McKay. "Dassault continues to make history," says McKay, who asserts that the French manufacturer will be the first to provide its customers with worldwide high-speed data access via Inmarsat.

EMS Technologies has just received Inmarsat approval to carry Swift64 Mobile Packet Data Service on the HSD-128. Offered via Inmarsat, MPDS is an "always-on" connection that is priced according to content used, rather than connect time. MPDS will be available globally on the Inmarsat network in early 2003

According to EMS, the HSD-128 is the only aeronautical high-speed data terminal that can support both an ISDN connection and MPDS, providing users with high speed and flexibility.
