Collins Wins New Platforms with Enhanced Pro Line 21

Rockwell Collins' (Booth 3275) Pro Line 21 avionics will have starring roles on Cessna's CJ3 (Booth 5277) and Gulfstream's G150 (Booth 3683). Both aircraft will feature large-format Pro Line 21 flat-panel displays, Proline 21 CNS radios, Collins FMS and the firm's new 2MCU file server unit. However, each aircraft will have individually tailored avionics packages, custom designed for each airframe manufacturer, according to Brian Vester at Rockwell Collins.

The CJ3's Pro Line 21 package, for example, is an enhanced version of the PL21 package that made its Cessna debut on the CJ2. The CJ3 kit features three, 10-by-eight-inch, portrait-configuration LCD screens, including left- and right-side PFDs and a left-center MFD. The CJ3 will be fitted with dual solid-state AHRS units and twin digital air data computers to meet RVSM requirements. The package includes a complete suite of Proline 21 CNS radios with digital audio panels and twin radio tuning units, a 2MCU file server unit, a solid-state WXR-800 weather radar sensor and a single FMS-3000, plus an ALT-4000 radio altimeter. Options include a choice of WSI broadcast or Universal Weather two-way datalink graphical weather functions, e-charts certified in accordance with the FAA's Class 3 rules for electronic flight bags (EFBs), enhanced FMS map overlays, and an FMS performance management function that provides both FAA-certified airport and Cessna-computed cruise performance data.

Pro Line 21 is making its Gulfstream debut aboard the G150, the wider and taller cabin variant of the G100. The newest Gulfstream will be fitted with four, 12-by-10-inch, portrait-configuration flat-panel screens, a full complement of PL21 CNS radios, dual FMS-6000 with integral radio tuning functions, dual GPS receivers, dual AHRS and dual DADCs. Options include Class 3 EFB e-charts, WSI and/or Universal Weather datalink weather and geo-referenced maps. Future developments will include 3-D terrain depiction.
