NBAA Remembers
The NBAA is commemorating the 9/11 attacks with several events
during the convention. At Tuesday's opening general session, the
association will honor the passengers and crew of United Airlines
Flight 93 with its American Spirit Award "for changing 40 years
for hijacking protocol in less than 40 minutes, saving countless
lives on the ground."
On Wednesday, the NBAA exhibit will remain closed until 10 a.m.
so that attendees can watch the federal memorial events in New
York and Washington. Large-screen TVs will be placed in the convention
center for this purpose. The U.S. Aerospace Industry Association,
meanwhile, has asked all 700,000 aerospace employees to observe
a moment of silence at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday.
Industry data supplier Amstat (Booth 5775) is holding a raffle
for two photographs taken by New Jersey photographer Tom McGuire
depicting the Tribute in Light-twin towers of light that were
illuminated after the attack on the World Trade Center site. The
photos are from McGuire's "World Trade Center Collection,"
which is being sold to raise funds for the New York Firefighters
Burn Center.
