Pentastar Kicks It Up a Notch
Pentastar Aviation's catering group has tripled its sales since
the former DaimlerChrysler Aviation changed its name and ownership
in October 2001, one of many positive developments at the company.
The Waterford, Mich.-based aviation services firm has expanded its
catering division, now known as Five-Star Gourmet, and has "taken
it to an even higher level," said Pentastar sales and marketing
vp Steve Taylor.
Pentastar (Booth 3973) caters DaimlerChrysler's four-times-weekly
transatlantic Airbus Corporate Jet shuttle as well its own aircraft-management
customers.
Pentastar hosted a new invitation-only Detroit International Aviation
Expo this summer, where 500 guests had the chance to inspect 22
aircraft from seven manufacturers. Pentastar plans a similar event
next year.
The company has remodeled its pilot and passenger lounges and
improved its concierge services since reverting to its original
name, which reflects its roots as Chrysler's corporate aviation
department. The new owner's name, too, reflects the highs and
lows of the automotive business: he is Edsel B. Ford II, great-grandson
of Henry Ford.
Pentastar has disclosed an agreement with Rolls-Royce Canada under
which the latter will provide support for Gulfstream engines-Speys,
Tays and BR710s-at Pentastar's base. "As the only independent
factory-authorized Gulfstream service center in the United States,
the ability to provide total maintenance services for Gulfstream
owners is a definite benefit, both for our customers and for us,"
said Taylor.
