Jet Upgrades GII-SP Systems

Jet Aviation West Palm Beach installed its first Universal Terrain Awareness and Warning (TAWS) and Flight Management Systems in a Gulfstream IISP aircraft.

According to Jet Avionics manager Brian Wilson, the installation required an STC from the FAA, since the company-which had installed TAWS systems from other manufacturers-had not previously installed the Universal system.

Aviation service providers like Jet Aviation are bracing for a rush of TAWS installations as the FAA-mandated March 2005 deadline for such capability gets closer.
