Pure Flying "Magic" for Six Turboprops

Meggitt/S-TEC of Mineral Wells, Texas, (Booth 5267) has launched a marketing initiative regarding retrofit installation of its Magic 2100 Digital Flight Control System, plus Meggitt's Magic EFIS and Electronic Instrument Display System in Turbo Commander 690, Raytheon King Air C90 and 200-series, Cessna Conquest I and II, and Piper Cheyenne II turboprop aircraft. In July, Meggitt/S-TEC earned FAA STC approval for such an installation in the Turbo Commander, and the firm anticipates STC approval for the Conquest II this month. STCs for the other four aircraft will be pursued next year.

The two-screen Magic EFIS will have both a PFD and an MFD, plus a solid-state ADAHRS capable of meeting RVSM requirements. The EIDS will feature dual display units fed by a digital data acquisition unit. The fully digital 2100 DFCS will have a three-axis autopilot with attitude-based pitch control that interfaces with the EFIS and ADAHRS.

Meggitt/S-TEC dealers who place orders for any of the Magic packages pending approval will be assured a factory production slot, thereby giving the dealers higher priority over other avionics shops. The production slot program, which requires a $5,000 refundable deposit, is designed as an incentive. Such production positions must be secured prior to STC issuance, but they are transferable.
