Weather Package Detects Storms, Lightning

Weather services provider Meteorlogix (Booth 2379) is promoting a new PC-based weather system that includes storm tracking and lightning detection capabilities.

Known as MxVision AviationSentry, the new service incorporates real-time weather data and a user-friendly interface permitting point-and-click access to crucial weather information.

The new system's storm tracking feature provides the current location of storms as well as their expected paths, while Lightning Manager monitors real-time lightning strikes and alerts users when strikes occur within a designated zone.

According to Meteorlogix executives, the new system not only enhances safety for pilots but also for FBOs, which can take precautionary measures such as tethering aircraft and discontinuing fueling and passenger boarding when severe weather is imminent.
