Blue Sky Ships $7K Satcom
Blue Sky (Booth 777) is showing its new FAA-certificated C-1000 satellite phone kit, which started shipping to customers in July. Like the company's other products, the C-1000 uses the Iridium satellite telephone network. Blue Sky says that its $6,995 price tag is one-quarter the price of competing fixed Satcom installations. $9,300 buys a two-channel-voice and data-system using a single specially developed antenna. Charles Lindbergh's grandson, Erik Lindbergh, used a Blue Sky Iridium phone when he recreated his grandfather's New York-to-Paris flight in May.
