Nordam to Supply Interior Kits for SJ30-2

Nordam's Interiors and Structures Division (Booth 5873) has been chosen by Sino-Swearingen to supply integrated interior shell kits, including upholstery coverings, electrical, air ducting and emergency oxygen systems, for the airframer's SJ30-2.

Deliveries are to begin in December.

No stranger to this technology, Nordam supplies similar kits to Embraer for its Legacy business jet, and it used to provide interiors for the Galaxy business jet prior to GD's acquisition of the aircraft line. Nordam was one of the first cabin interior furnishings companies to invest in high-powered computer-aided design software, enabling the firm to exchange design renderings with clients by e-mail.

The technology enables all stakeholders in the aircraft to exchange information "rapidly and accurately" according to Ron Richman, head of Nordam's manufacturing division. Each party can rotate, divide, join and measure components of the model and then forward the modified file to others for review. This capability slashes the need for traveling to design review meetings.

Nordam manufactures a wide variety of composite and metal components, including engine nacelles and thrust reversers. The firm is best known, though, for its quartz-fiber, microwave transparent radome technology.

Headquarters for the Nordam Group is Tulsa, with subsidiaries in Fort Worth, Wichita, Singapore; and the UK.
