Sabreliner Offers an NBAA Discount on its Early Work for RVSM Mandate

The deadline for the FAA's domestic RVSM mandate (DRVSM) isn't until December 2004, but Sabreliner plans to use this year's Orlando show to assist Sabre 65 operators in meeting the requirement.

The company has developed an RVSM slot reservation system, with a special pricing structure, designed to encourage Sabreliner Model 65 operators to comply promptly with the RVSM mandate. The earlier an operator schedules the RVSM upgrade, the less the work will cost.

"As the DRVSM mandate draws closer, operators who wait are going to be scrambling to make their aircraft compliant," noted Jack Vaughn, Sabreliner corporate aviation marketing vp. "Operators will run into modification capacity issues if they wait until the eleventh hour. This slot reservation system was designed to help them avoid that problem by bringing their aircraft in as soon as possible."

Sabreliner has set up an area on its website where operators can go to reserve an RVSM modification slot. The site details the number of slots available during a specified time period, offers operators a choice of two different avionics upgrade options (dual ADC-80s or dual ADC-87s), and outlines pricing for each avionics option.

"We want to provide operators an easy, economic means to comply with the DRVSM requirement," Vaughn continued. "In return for an early slot reservation, operators get special discounted pricing for the RVSM upgrade. The earlier operators reserve their spot, the more money they save."

Sabreliner received FAA group RVSM certification for the Sabreliner Model 65 this past January and has so far performed the RVSM upgrade on 11 aircraft. The RVSM equipment installation can be accomplished in two to three weeks depending on an aircraft's avionics configuration.

Sabreliner will also attend NBAA to discuss new capabilities of its Premier Turbines overhaul facility.
Premier Turbines has launched a quick-turn service, which it has named "The Bullet Shop," for component repairs and specialized processes. This new repair service guarantees the return of parts within 10 working days or less from the date of receipt into the Bullet Shop, located at Premier Turbines' operation in Neosho, Mo.

"There are times when customers don't have the luxury of waiting 30 days to get an engine part back," notes Jim Robertson, vp and general manager of Premier Turbines' Neosho operations. "This new streamlined system, which expedites parts through the repair process, was implemented at the request of our existing customers to help them with urgent repair needs."

In other news, Premier Turbines' engine maintenance, repair and overhaul operation in Neosho has earned the FAA Diamond Award in the Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards Program. This is the second time the Diamond Award has been earned at this facility.

The Neosho operation also received the Diamond Award in June 2002 after 53 technicians completed FAA-certified training within 12 months, meeting the stipulation that at least 25% of technicians receive training during the year.
