SJ30 Here With New Hardware
Customers-150-plus
of them, loyal fellows all-of the long-awaited Sino-Swearingen SJ30-2
will soon be asked to specify color and fabric choices for the high-performance
light jet's interior. The cabin mockup here (Booth 2384) reflects
some of the detail changes that the company has made to ensure more
efficient use of the cabin space.
Gone is a space-eating coat closet, replaced by an optional storage
area with foldaway coat hooks. A half-height partition incorporates
a fan-type "close-out" that provides full privacy for
the lavatory but causes minimum obstruction when it is open. The
production-type seats are located in a club arrangement. The forward-facing
seats are wider than the aft-facing seats and can be reclined into
full berths. The mockup uses premium rather than standard fabrics.
The interior of the first conforming SJ30-2 prototype, on show
(in static space 16) for the first time here, is more spartan-it
is full of test equipment, although the nose boom carrying flight-test
sensors has been removed for the duration of the show. It does,
however, feature the three-tube Honeywell Primus Epic avionics system
that will be used on production aircraft.-Bill Sweetman
