Have You Owned a Piper Cub?
Like To? Now's Your Chance

Opening at this convention and closing at next year's is what promises to be a popular competition to win a classic yellow Piper J3 Cub-which aspiring owners can view at the entrance to the static display at Orlando Executive Airport. Following earlier giveaways in the last two years of a PT Cruiser and Volkswagen "Bug," TAC Air is sponsoring the competition and accepting entries at the Convention Center (Booth 4876) and at the static display.

Registration is also extended to visitors to TAC Air's FBOs between now and the 2003 Convention. Headquartered at Texarkana, Texas, the company also has FBO facilities at Amarillo, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Fort Smith, Ark.; Greenville, S.C.; Hartford, Conn.; Lexington, Ky.; Omaha, Neb.; and Shreveport, La. To have a chance of winning, entrants must be 18 or older and hold a current FAA pilot license. They may lodge one entry per day.

For further research, TAC Air has a website (www.tacaircub.com) that details the history of the Taylor/Piper Cub, more than 20,000 of which were built from 1938 onward, bequeathing 4,000 of their number to grace today's skies. Those who have flown, maintained or just admired the Cub are invited to share their memories with others who view the site.
The lucky winner will become the owner of J3C-65 tail number NC42144, carefully restored to the condition in which it first flew in October 1945. However, early entrants must hold their breath until 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Oct. 7, 2003, to hear the result. Attendance at the draw is not a precondition of winning.
