Boeing is fielding a strong presence at FIDAE 2002 in recognition
of the importance of the region and the growing stature of the show
itself, says Boeing Commercial's regional marketing chief Daniel
da Silva.
While expressing disappointment that Boeing's plans to bring a
BBJ fell through, he pointed out that the U.S. Department of Defense
will be exhibiting several Boeing aircraft.
"We have a delegation of 14 representatives at FIDAE from
all areas of the Boeing business, including commercial, missiles,
and space and communications," he said.
Da Silva noted that 85% of all the airliners flying in Central
and South America are Boeings, "so we have a tremendous commitment
to the region, not only in customer support but in marketing to
airlines that already fly our aircraft," he said. Many are
placing repeat orders.
"In the last 10 years Boeing has delivered 62% of all the
new aircraft in the region, despite the propaganda you hear from
our competition," da Silva added.
