Chile and Israel Cooperate on UAVs

Malat's Searacher II flies with synthetic aperture radar.

Israel Aircraft Industries has reestablished its partnership with ENAER in Chile for the promotion of Searcher II tactical UAVs, equipped with advanced payloads such as the EL/M-2055 synthetic aperture radar from ELTA.

IAI claimed at last year's Paris Air Show that the Searcher II is the first tactical UAV to carry an operational SAR sensor providing all weather intelligence capability. It says the EL/M-2055 SAR provides a true all weather capability, generating SAR images that approach photographic quality. (IAI is here in Hall A, Booth 27.)

Searcher systems are in service in Israel and other countries. The Searcher UAV, produced by IAI subsidiary Malat, scored an air show first when it was flown here during FIDAE 1998.
