Falcon 900 Fleet Tops 300 Mark
Since its introduction in 1996, some 110 of Dassault's flagship
Falcon 900EXs have been delivered to operators on every continent,
bringing the worldwide Falcon 900-series fleet to more than 300
airplanes. The 900EX will retain its top-of-range status until
2006 when the next generation Falcon 7X reaches the marketplace.
The Honeywell TFE731-60-powered trijet lives up to it 'EX' (for
EXtended range) tag. It can fly nonstop from Paris to Chicago at
long-range cruise, or from Tokyo to San Francisco at .80 Mach, with
eight passengers and NBAA IFR reserves against 85% predicted winds.
'Green' Falcon 900EXs routinely cover the 4,237 nmi great-circle
distance between Dassault's Bordeaux plant and its Little Rock,
Arkansas completion center in 10 to 12 hours depending on headwinds.
The world record for this trip was set by the late Captain Gene
'Ed' Allen, former director of flight at Dassault Falcon Jet, who
made it in nine hours, 19 minutes, establishing a new class city-pair
speed record in August 2000.
