Gulfstream Shows Full Range
For First Time in Europe
 |
| Gulfstream G100 (front), G200, GIV-SP and
GV are all here together at EBACE. |
Gulfstream's entire expanded fleet is on show for the first time
in Europe here at EBACE. Last year its parent General Dynamics purchased
Galaxy Aerospace in a deal worth up to $668 million and added the
Astra SPX and the super midsized Galaxy to the Gulfstream range
as the Gulfstream 100 and 200 respectively.
On show here are the $11.75 million, nine seat Gulfstream 100,
the $20.1 million up to 18-seat Gulfstream 200, the $32.75 million
long range GIV-SP, and the top of the line $43.24 million ultra-long-range
GV.
"EBACE 2002 is an ideal location for Gulfstream to showcase
its entire fleet in Europe for the first time," said Bill Boisture,
president of Gulfstream Aero- space.
The mid-size Gulfstream 100, with its short runway capability
so important in Europe, and its high speed, is ideally suited for
long and short distance flights, with a maximum range of 2,950 nmi.
at speeds in excess of Mach 0.80.
The Gulfstream 200 is the only super mid-size aircraft in operation
today and flies nonstop from Geneva to Gander, Newfound-land, or
Berlin to Delhi," he said.
Gulfstream claims the GIV-SP is the world's best selling long
range (up to 4,220 nmi.), large-cabin business jet aircraft. It
has logged more than 1.6 million flight hours since entering service
in 1985.
The Gulfstream V can fly up to 6,500 nmi., or dash over shorter
distances at speeds of up to Mach 0.885.
The soon-to-be-available (in 2003) Gulfstream V-SP will provide
a 250-mile greater range of 6,750 nmi., or dash at Mach 0.87 on
high speed, shorter range trips of up to 5,000 nmi.
"The improved takeoff performance makes the GV-SP even more
suitable for shorter runways," said Boisture.
He added it is the first Gulfstream equipped with the radical
four-screen PlaneView cockpit utilizing Honeywell Primus Epic avionics.
It will also come as standard with the Gulfstream/Kollsman infrared
Enhanced Vision System and a head-up display.
