Legacy Targets London City
Embraer "very much" wants to see its Legacy business
jet approved for operations into London City Airport. So said Embraer
corporate vice-president and executive vp for corporate aircraft
Sam Hill during a 45-minute flight aboard the company demonstrator
Tuesday evening.
"We will support any operator that wants to fly there,"
Hill continued, as the Legacy circled Mont Blanc. "It's more
important than ever to be seen to be able to fly into city airports.
From our performance charts we know the airplane can do it,"
he said, referring to the airport's 5.5 degree glideslope. Initial
trials at the London business district airport will begin soon.
The Legacy is already in service with two private customers in
Brazil, where the airplane was certified in December 2001. The first
was delivered in February, the second in April. FAA and JAA certification
is expected in June.
Launch customer Swift Air, which has 25 Legacy jets on order,
will receive two airplanes this year, instead of the six originally
planned, said Hill. He said he expects Swift Air to sell some of
its positions to other legacy customers seeking early delivery.
Embraer is here at Booth 7457.

TLC for European Legacy Operators
Embraer is now offering its Total Legacy Care (TLC) maintenance
program to European operators. TLC covers scheduled and unscheduled
airframe maintenance during the five years after customer
delivery.
Customers who opt for TLC pay a fixed hourly rate for airframe
maintenance based on hours flown (minimum 400 per year) and
operational parameters. This covers virtually all airframe
line, base and heavy maintenance, which can be performed by
a qualified operator or an authorized service center. Engine
support is provided under separate contract under the Rolls-Royce
CorporateCare program.
