Caravan
STC for TPE331
The venerable
TPE331 (né 1965) now manufactured by Honeywell is for the
first time to power the also venerable Cessna Caravan (né
1984), as Alaska's Aero Twin has secured a Supplemental Type Certificate
for retrofits using the TPE331-12JR version of the powerplant. The
800-shp 12 retrofit will make for a takeoff distance nearly
11% shorter than the existing Caravan 208B's, a 60% better rate
of climb, improved payload range, lower fuel burn for the same mission
profile, lower operating cost, longer inspection intervals, and
improved anti-ice engine performance, Honeywell says.
