SBAC Expects a Record Farnborough

Farnborough 2002 is promising to be bigger and better than ever, with companies moving to expand their exhibits compared with the year 2000 event. Farnborough confirmed its position as the world's leading aerospace business venue two years ago, with announced sales reaching a most impressive $52 billion.

The decision to move the bi-annual event from September to July was a good one, said exhibits chief Amanda Stainer of the Society of British Aerospace Companies, as the summer slot made the show a spectacular event for industry and public alike.
Farnborough 2002 is slated for July 22-28, with a five-day span of trade days. Two public days will include extensive flying displays. Responding to exhibitor's requests, SBAC has simplified ticketing procedures, Flight displays will be limited to two hours this year, commencing each day at 14:30.

The Farnborough airfield, formerly owned by the UK Ministry of Defence, was recently leased to TAG Aviation for a 25-year term. TAG is developing the property as a business aviation hub, and new facilities should improve access to the Farnborough gala for bizjet flyers. The airport will be open throughout the show, save during the daily two-hour flight displays.

As at previous Farnborough shows, Aviation Week & Space Technology and Show News will be official event publications.
