Larsen has served as executive VP of Goodrich and president and
COO of its aerospace business since l995, having joined the company
as an operations analyst and financial manager in 1977. He subsequently
became director of planning and analysis and later served as director
of product marketing. Appointment as assistant to the president
followed in 1986 and he later served as general manager of several
Goodrich divisions. In 1994 he was elected a VP of Goodrich Corp
and was named a group VP of Goodrich Aerospace.
Outside the industry Larsen is active in cultural and community
affairs serving as a board member of the Boy Scouts of America,
Mecklenburg County Council, the North Carolina Dance Theater, and
the Charlotte Regional Partnership.
With sales of its aerospace systems, components and services totaling
$4.9 billion in the last fiscal year, Goodrich now plans to spin
off its engineered industrial products to shareholders in the forthcoming
second quarter of this year. Goodrich has been described by Forbes
as one of the "most admired" aerospace companies.
Larsen said he was proud to be associated with the aerospace industry
at such a critical time in the history of aviation and was "sincerely
honored" to be chosen to head Goodrich-a company solidly positioned
to meet the challenges and opportunities of a great industry. The
advent of Boeing's Super Cruiser, the Airbus A380 and the Joint
Strike Fighter will all change the aviation landscape, he said.
