Shanghai Maglev Runs on EADS Radios

Shanghai's new Transrapid magnetic levitation (Maglev) monorail will use an advanced EADS radio system to ensure safety during operations. The high-speed radio relay system, supplied by EADS subsidiary Racom, will be used to relay data between the fast-moving Transrapid trains and the central control station.

Shanghai's Maglev system represents the first commercial Transrapid application route, linking the International Shanghai-Pudong Airport to the city's Luijazui financial center. The trains will be able to cover the 30-km route in just seven minutes, traveling at speeds of up to 430 kmh.
