IAF
Obstacle Finding Lasers
El-Op, an Elbit Systems subsidiary, has a contract for the supply
of Laser Obstacle Ranging and Display systems for IAF helicopters.
Utilizing an eye-safe laser radar scanning a 30-degree field of
view, LORD can pick up such obstacles as electrical wire and antennae,
from a distance of 700 meters and provide real-time alerts to
pilots when flying in low altitude and adverse weather conditions.
The system provides visual and audible cues providing information
about the obstacles shape and precise location.
