ILA 2002 Attendance Expected To Rise
Next year's ILA 2002 International Aerospace Exhibition (May 6-12,
2002) in Berlin promises to be a great success, according to Dr.
Gustav Humbert, president of the German Aerospace Industries Association
(BDLI).
To date, bookings are up significantly over last year's show,
which saw participation by more than 1,000 exhibitors.
For the first time, the show will feature a separate International
Helicopter Center with conference facilities. With 52 helicopters
on display, last year's ILA 2000 show was one of the largest international
shows in this industry sector.
In 2002 an even higher turnout is expected. The new Heli-Center
will be located on the west side of the exhibition grounds, close
to a heliport independent of the rest of ILA's air traffic.
The ILA organizers, working in conjunction with the BDLI and the
German helicopter magazine Rotorblatt, are sponsoring a helicopter
event that will focus on the important role helicopters play in
law enforcement.
Police helicopter squadrons from several European Union nations
are expected to attend, along with units from several Eastern
European countries under consideration for EU membership.
A conference and lecture program is planned as part of the event,
as are flight demonstrations of various types of police helicopters.
