French Minister, Air France President Commit
to Concorde
Air France president Jean-Cyril Spinetta and French transport
minister Jean-Pierre Gayssot are committed to the return of Concorde
to service.
Both appeared at the press conference to announce Air France's
purchase of the A380. Gayssot said that 95% of the French population
wants to see Concorde fly again. The SST has been grounded since
an Air France aircraft crashed near Charles de Gaulle Airport
last July.
Spinetta denied that the prime market for the Concorde, very-high-end
business travelers, have gone out of the commercial market altogether
onto business jets. "They're riding in full first class on
Air France. I can confirm that they'll come back on board Concorde
when it's back in service," he said.
