Boeing-Sukhoi Agreement Mooted?

Sukhoi has been identified as one Russian company with which Boeing has been talking (another being Ilyushin), concerning possible further aerospace cooperation.

Speaking to the press yesterday (Monday) at Le Bourget, Sukhoi general director Mikhail Pogosyan said that he hoped to be able to announce progress on Wednesday or Thursday from previously reported negotiations in which Sukhoi has been involved with Boeing. These concerned co-operation and possible strategic partnership in areas that included regional aircraft.

Pogosyan also predicted that Sukhoi was expecting its military aircraft sales in 2001 to double those reported in the previous year. Its general sales over the past decade have exceeded $12 billion.
