Apollo Software Lets BAE Systems Drop $20M in Inventory

Apollo, a software designer specializing in supply-chain management for high-value materials, has received a contract worth some $750 million over 10 years to operate BAE Systems' Air Programs Business Unit.

The deal, dubbed the "Millennium Contract" by Apollo, has allowed BAE to reduce its inventory by some $20 million and to reallocate space previously used for inventory storage for other activities, such as Eurofighter, Apollo says.

The companies have completed the first-phase introduction of the plan, which began with the contract in 2000. Components of Apollo are in place at BAE sites in Warton, Samlesbury, Prestwick, Chadderton and Brough, and to more than 50 of its first-tier suppliers.
