Bombardier Joins Aviation Week's Next Century of Flight

Bombardier Aerospace has joined Aviation Week's The Next Century of Flight (NCF) multimedia campaign designed to raise public awareness of the global aviation industry as it nears the 100th anniversary of powered flight.

Since its 1998 launch, the program has reached millions via Aviation Week's specific NCF content, and through an aggressive campaign of advertising, direct marketing, exposure at public events, and industry sponsorship.

"We are proud to welcome Bombardier as a partner in The Next Century of Flight," said Aviation Week executive vice-president/publisher Kenneth E. Gazzola. "We look forward to working with the company to help it capitalize on the milestone opportunity of the flight centennial to raise global awareness of its brand legacy and leadership."

Other NCF partners are government, industry and non-profit groups including Inventing Flight (the Dayton 2003 Centennial Celebration), GIFAS, CSC, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission, Society of British Aerospace Companies, FAA, the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum's Dulles Center campaign, and NASA.

The NCF program has three fundamental goals, according to Chris Meyer, a spokesman for the Aviation Week program: "We want to re-ignite the spirit that launched this industry 100 years ago, and make the rest of the world aware of that spirit. But most importantly, we want to get kids interested in aviation."

To reach this goal, Aviation Week plans to raise a $1 million scholarship endowment in support of the NCF program by 2003, working in conjunction with parent McGraw-Hill's education unit.

Many of The McGraw-Hill Companies' math and science books for elementary school students will soon include NCF support links and materials as a result of this collaboration. On AviationNow.com, Aviation Week's web portal, the NCF channel has a special education section called LIFTOFF!

For corporations who wish to become NCF sponsors, two specific programs are offered. A Gold partnership is obtained with an annual commitment of $96,000; Silver partnerships can be had for $49,000 per year.

All partners benefit from prominent, year-round visibility in all NCF media and promotion, including advertisements in Aviation Week publications, and logos and links on the NCF web channel.
