  RAH-66 Comanche Gets Twin Turbine Tune-Up
On June 1 Boeing and Sikorsky flew the first prototype RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter with upgraded 1,563 shp T800-LHT-801 turbo-shaft engines. The ­801 has 17% more power than the original ­800 engine, thus assuring the aircraft will meet the milspec requirement for a 500 fpm climb rate and 165 KTAS maximum cruise speed at a MTOW of at least 12,000 pounds in hot-and-high conditions.
