  New Space Shuttle Wheels
Goodrich Corporation is developing a new high-performance wheel to replace those currently used on the NASA Space Shuttle Orbiters by 2004. The new wheel will enable the orbiters to land at Edwards AFB in California under more severe conditions, permitting an increase in landing speed from 225 knots to 250 knots and a 17% increase in maximum landing weight, to 171,000 pounds.
