Millimeter Wave Radar Available to International Buyers
Bell Helicopter Textron and Longbow International soon will offer
millimeter wave radar (MMW) to international buyers of the AH-1Z
attack helicopter. MMW will compliment the target sighting system
on the AH-1Z, which is under development for the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first prototype of the aircraft is in flight test at NAS Patuxent
River, MD. Production deliveries are set for 2004. MMW radar will
be enclosed in a pod for mounting on either wing in place of one
AIM-9 air-to-air missile.
