NY State Cops Buy Huey II Upgrade Kits
The New York State Police Department will take delivery of three
Huey II upgrade kits for its UH-1H Huey helicopters, becoming
the first U.S. customer for the program. The Huey II kit is a
Bell Helicopter Textron-developed program that uses an upgraded
Honeywell T53-L-703 engine offering 28% more takeoff power over
the UH-1H. The kit also includes an improved transmission, Bell
212 rotor blades and tail boom, better hot-and-high performance
and a 45% reduction in operating cost, according to Honeywell.
