Journey to the Centre of the Aircraft Engine
Frenchman Junes Verne wrote "Journey to the Center of the
Earth," but the ultimate experience in modern France is a
no less awesome odyssey into the bowels of a turbofan engine,
with Rolls-Royce as guide.
Visitors to Hall 2A/C20 in can enter an engine mock-up where,
after viewing a selection of the latest technology, they can join
the airflow as it passes through a compressor and is burned in
the combustion chamber before transiting the turbine and exhaust.
Augmenting this audio-visual experience are the more usual stand
exhibits, including a demonstration of the proprietary aeromanager.com
through which customers can transact business with Rolls-Royce.
There is also a full size Trent, powerplant of such large airliners
as the Airbus A330/340, A380 and Boeing 777.
