GE Engine Services and ILS
Form Info Management JV

GE Engine Services and Sweden's Industrial & Financial Systems formed a strategic alliance to refine and market IFS' software for managing commercial aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul businesses, in hope of gaining a significant chunk of a potential billion-dollar market.

As a first step in the agreement, GEES will deploy IFS Aviation software throughout its network of more than 60 service facilities worldwide. In addition, GE will market the package to other MRO providers through GE Aviation Information Services and GEES's global marketing and sales organization.

"Our commitment to IFS Aviation applications is a key step in launching the sale and distribution of these unique, component-based software solutions to the commercial aviation industry," says George Oliver, VP and general manager of GE Engine Services.
IFS will gain access to GE's deep pool of knowledge of the MRO industry, says Bengt Nilsson, president and CEO of IFS. "As the world's leading aviation maintenance provider, GE is best positioned to understand the special requirements of commercial airline operations and MRO providers," he adds.

"This alliance represents a powerful foray for IFS into the aviation market. Since IFS applications are component-based, our aviation customers can quickly implement only the modules they require now and add applications when the need arises."

ILS Aviation software includes modules for supply chain management, customer relationship management, financials, engineering, maintenance and human resource administration. The deal is worth "multi-millions," according to GE.
