Italian Air Force Patrols New Border
Two Italian Air Force Piaggio P.166DL-3 twin-turboprops have completed more than 100 aerial patrols of the new, UN-mandated frontier between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Equipped for both aerial reconnaissance and photographic survey, the aircraft have flown around 180 hours over the contested area since November 2000. The aircraft are part of the Italian Air Force's 14th Wing at Pratica di Mare.
