Fairchild Dornier Delegates
Fairchild Dornier has extended the art of risk sharing to the
nth degree with the 70-passenger 728JET. But that strategy is
beginning to pay off as complete systems are being delivered to
Oberpfaffenhofen for the Iron Bird testbed and development aircraft,
which will fly next May. Among them: primary and secondary flight
controls, hydraulic and electrical systems, and thrust reversers.
Meanwhile the wings are taking shape at EADS/Casa, the CF34-8
propulsion system is in flight test at GE, MAN Technologie has
delivered the first tailcone to Honeywell for complete stuffing
with RA 220 APU and systems, and Sabca has delivered the first
cockpit windshield frame section, which has only three parts.
Sabca is also building the front and rear fuselage sections.
